Set up your project

You can go straight to setting up your software. You do not need to generate a free project, create a GitHub account or open a separate infrastructure-provider account first.

Open MovePacket and create an account or sign in. Use that same account when returning to your projects or opening your private hosted software.

Find your way around#

After you sign in, MovePacket opens Projects. Opening MovePacket when you are already signed in shows Monitor. If you described an idea on the MovePacket website before signing in, it continues with that idea instead.

The workspace menu lists your published Pages first, then + Page, Projects and Playground, then Monitor, Integrations and Data.

Choose your starting point#

Both paths can lead to a hosted project. You do not need to start setup again to return to one: open it from Projects.

Create a project#

In Projects, choose New project. Creating a project needs an active MovePacket subscription. Without one, MovePacket shows Keep building; choose Start MovePacket. Checkout is in test mode, so no real payment is taken. After payment, choose New Project to continue. One subscription covers additional projects.

  1. What do you want to build? Describe your idea. A project name is optional; MovePacket suggests one from your idea.
  2. Who is this for? New projects start as Just me — private to my account. Team and athlete sign-in are not available yet.
  3. Where is this going? Choose Inside MovePacket to build Pages that live in your workspace, or External for a project with its own address and hosting.
  4. Where should it live? For an External project, choose MovePacket address and enter a name for your .movepacket.com address, or choose an assisted option to use a domain you own or want to buy.
  5. How do you want to build it? Not sure which AI builder to use? Start with MovePacket AI, the default. If you already use Codex, Claude or Cursor, choose that instead. You can change this later.

Choose Create project. A project built inside MovePacket has no address or hosting setup. With MovePacket AI it opens in MovePacket AI; with another builder, choose Connect an AI builder or Build with MovePacket AI.

Your address and domain#

An External project has a your-name.movepacket.com address; a project built inside MovePacket has none. The project's Settings offers these address options:

All three paths can use an included MovePacket address while you keep building. Saving a domain preference does not reserve, buy or connect that domain. To submit an assistance request, choose Ask for connection help or Ask for buying help in Settings, or under Your project details → Your domain on the project's Foundation. Progress and the team's response appear there; use Check request to refresh. These are assistance updates, not automated DNS or HTTPS checks. Custom-domain activation still requires a separately verified hosting and sign-in implementation; do not point DNS at MovePacket until that setup is confirmed.

You own your separately registered domain and keep its account and renewal notices. Registration and renewals are annual costs outside Core, paid directly to your registrar. If you leave, you can point your domain to another host. Transferring registration can have waiting periods. The included movepacket.com address belongs to MovePacket and cannot be transferred away. Changing your address preference never makes your project public.

GitHub is optional. In Settings, Already use GitHub? Optional saves a repository link for your builder; it does not connect GitHub, import the repository or set up automatic deployments.

Prepare your foundation#

For an External project, MovePacket starts hosting setup when you create it. It saves your progress and checks project storage and the HTTPS address. You can leave and return. If a step needs attention, open the project's Foundation and choose Retry setup. If you did not enter a MovePacket address, choose Choose my address.

Your foundation is ready means the starting page, project storage and address checks have completed. The starting page is private to your MovePacket account. It does not mean a finished dashboard, athlete data, external integrations or automatic backups have been connected.

Where your project is hosted#

MovePacket’s managed hosting runs on Cloudflare. MovePacket handles it for you; you do not need a separate Cloudflare account. Cloudflare Workers serves your hosted pages and Cloudflare R2 stores their files. This describes the managed hosting platform, not proof that a particular project is live or working; check its setup on the project's Foundation.

Choose who your project is for#

Once an External project's foundation is ready, Foundation asks 1. Who it’s for: choose Just me, Me and my athletes or Anyone. Just me is the default, and your choice is saved when you select it. Choose Continue for the next step; if Foundation opens on that step, Change takes you back. Your project details holds the address, services, publishing and manual connection options. Your MovePacket workspace stays private and separate from the project you are building.

The choice guides MovePacket AI and your external builder; it does not grant access or change your project's visibility. A private hosted project uses your existing MovePacket sign-in. Selecting Anyone does not publish it. Review the content before explicitly changing access.

For Me and my athletes, you can start designing separate views with example data. Athlete invitations, athlete sign-in and per-athlete hosted access are not available yet. A role selector or hidden screen is not access control. Real athlete sharing needs an authorised, tested server-side access path first.

Bring your idea to life#

Step 2. Start building shows one path, and Build with starts on your saved builder:

Start with one useful task. For a rider dashboard, that might be seeing which riders need attention and opening their recent activity. Building basics has prompts you can adapt.

Return to your work#

Open Projects and choose your project to continue. A hosted project's Project options menu holds Settings, with the saved name and setup choices, and Foundation, with the address, builder connection and publishing details; Settings → Open hosting & connections leads there too. Once hosting is ready, the menu also holds Updates, with saved changes. A project built inside MovePacket opens in MovePacket AI; use the Settings link on its card to reach its settings and Updates. A published Page opens from your Hub; Work on Project returns to the Project behind it.

New customer-hosted projects start private to the account that owns them. Publishing an update preserves that privacy. Before using real data, read Data & capabilities and Access & sharing.
